This is a 4 week painting course, and is for EVERYONE! It's all about giving it a go, enjoying the process and learning something new. Keen creatives from complete beginners to more experienced painters are welcome.
The total cost for the four week course is £120 and includes tuition, all art supplies, floral inspiration and light refreshments. This course is ran by Katie, a locally based artist. A break down of each week is below:
Week 1- Jan - Sunday 26th, 11:30am - 1:30pm - 'Dried Described'
The art course will begin with dried flowers and foliage providing beautfiul inspiration for our paintings. As flowers dry they tend to form a crisper shape and clear cut edges, we will explore how inks can be used to almost sketch the shapes in front of us. As well as inks we will use pencils, watercolour and acrylic paints.
Week 2 - Feb - Sunday 23rd, 11:30am - 1:30pm - 'Natural Lines'
Building on the skills gained during week 1 and continuing to work with inks, watercolours and acrylic we will swap our inspiration from dried flowers to fresh flowers. We’ll firstly create inky paintings based on the blooms in front of us, we’ll then explore the linear drawings that are hidden inside them ( I promise they’ll be there- I’ll show you) . We’ll then go on to create a piece that shows a very different take on the floral inspiration.
Week 3 - March - Sunday 15th, 11:30am - 1:30pm - 'Welcome to the Jungle'
During this workshop we will create a series of small artworks whilst developing drawing and mark making techniques, inspired by all things jungle, from wild plants and flowers to animal and leaf prints. We will create our sketches and paintings on various paper and card bases whilst using a colour palette made up of green shades with pops of fluro brights and metallic highlights.
Week 4 - Dec - Sunday 8th, 11:30am - 1:30pm - 'Floral Gift Stationery'
The drawing and pattern making skills explored in the previous session will be developed further to help to create your own beautiful range of greeting cards & gift tags featuring illustrative floral designs. We will also follow a booklet guide, created by Katie to help explain and inspire techniques to create simple yet affective designs for your stationery pieces.
